Kata Noi Beach, Phuket Island

Kata Noi Beach as the name suggest in Thai is small, less than one kilometer in length and even quieter than its big sister Kata Beach. The sand is fine, the waters very clear and perfect for all to swim in, in the high season months.

The Kata Noi Beach is surrounded by several large hotel resorts such as the Katathani Resort, which are nestled into the side of the hills. It’s these hills that can take you further around the coast to some other beautiful beaches in Nai Harn and Ya nui. Also it is possible to get to Rawai Beach and Promthep Cape this way too; a great place to watch the Thai sun setting over the Andaman Sea.

Kata Noi Beach is popular with the surfing community in the low season (May / October) similar to Surin Beach, which is just north of Kamala beach. It’s got great waves but when high season comes, the waves drop and the beach become a paradise for the pro sun worshiper.

Kata Noi Beach

There is little to do here other than chill, watch the world go by, take refreshing dips in the sea and walk the length of the beach a few times. You can also enjoy fresh coconuts and other seasonal fruits from the few venders that hang around here selling their goods. Kata Noi Beach is so off the pace, it makes even Laem Singh Beach look hectic, which is saying something.

To get to Kata Noi Beach only takes a few minutes from Kata Beach you head south going past Mon Tri Boathouse on the right, the road takes on a slight hill and veers off, keep right, as the left turn is the way up to the view point. Carry on the road until you see the Kata Thani hotel complex.

The beach is on the right, the road it’s actually a dead end so to leave you have to turn around the way you came to In order leave.

Kata Noi Beach is definitely one of Phuket’s premier beaches make no mistake there, although a little off the beaten track; sat below the green hills, it is one of the area’s most spectacular beaches. It is a fantastic place to escape the hustle and bustle of some of the other Phuket Beaches. Kata Beach sure is. A hidden pearl of Phuket, a perfect little retreat

Again the setup here is similar to the other beaches in Phuket albeit maybe a little more pricey. As it’s more exclusive, prices range from between 200/300 baht for the day, there are numerous little restaurants and bars dotted about, no public toilets to speak of, but you can use those belonging to the bars, maybe for a small fee.

Apart from the usual cheap eating places, Kata Noi Beach hosts some of Phuket’s finest dinning. The food at MonTri is fantastic, pricey but well worth the extra cash and also there is a fantastic restaurant at the Kata Thani hotel they both come highly recommended.

Beachy things to do here, as well as nothing but lounging about, you could try the snorkeling around the edges of the beach. Or you may find some locals playing soccer or volleyball in the late afternoon. It is a laid back place, so do please do not expect too much exercise, it’s a chill out beach for the professional sun worshipper.

After the day on the beach lounging around, the bars are not far away and an ice cold cocktail as the sunsets is a magical end to what is usually a perfect day. Kata Noi Beach, a true hidden gem, Shhhhh don’t tell anyone.

Heading North you will find the splendid beach of Kata and south you will come to Nai Harn.
